River Wellness and Revit
Nothing beats summer in Chicago. But finding an oasis in the urban jungle of Chicago can be a challenge. Recently, RevitTx helped sponsor the Urban Rivers annual Health and Wellness Weekend.
Urban Rivers works in partnership with the City of Chicago, community groups, corporations, and local businesses to ensure thoughtful planning and acceptance of our river systems as a long-term and cherished asset. The event was held at the “Wild Mile,” a beautiful, reimagined stretch of the north branch of the Chicago River, which borders the west side of Lincoln Park. Urban Rivers has one mission: restoring life to the Chicago River. RevitTx has one mission: restoring mental health and wellness to the people of Chicagoland. It may not be apparent immediately, but the two go hand in hand.
Why Being Outside Matters for Wellness
Being outside is good for the mind, body, and soul. Transforming and reclaiming urban waterways into wildlife sanctuaries is not only crucial for fish and birds — it’s also vital for our social environment as humans. Time spent near water and greenery has been linked to lower stress, improved mood, and a calmer nervous system. With that mindset, it’s a no-brainer that RevitTx is proud to partner with Urban Rivers Health and Wellness.
A Weekend on the Water
Our team joined hundreds of Chicagoans for a weekend of kayaking on the river. Because of the generational pollution from the mighty industrial sector, this activity has only recently become safe on the north branch — a testament to the restoration work happening right in our backyard.
On the shoreline, among the newly planted gardens and wetlands, everyone got their sweat on — enjoying free yoga, Zumba, and self-defense classes on the newly installed river boardwalk. Chicagoans enjoyed complimentary refreshments, snacks, and prizes provided by RevitTx. The calm setting was a perfect place to spread the word to eventgoers about RevitTx and the benefits of our all-natural treatments.
A Shared Mission for Chicagoland
A big thanks to Urban Rivers for allowing us to participate in the Health and Wellness Weekend. We encourage everyone to visit urbanriv.org to volunteer or help the cause of preserving our most precious resource — water. The Chicago River system is a sanctuary for us all. As a community, we can unite to restore our city in ways we never thought possible.
Restoring the river and restoring our well-being are two halves of the same story — both begin with caring for the world right outside our door.
